It’s a mess out there. Boy we know it. We have tried to keep as much of our reconstruction efforts in the Centre Marina, but we had to get moving on the reconstruction of the float home community on the south end. At the time I am writing this short note, we have completed all the prep work for the three-phase power distribution to this area. The new transformer pad is installed, (and dressed up with some really nice rock work - thanks Rick and Mark!), all conduits are in the ground, the new utility rooms have been constructed, the new entry pier is in place, and… the new floats are floating. It has been fun watching folks out on these docks; some jump up and down on them, some kick ‘em, some get down and touch them – a few even walk on them. Chuckle.
It has been our pleasure to be a part of this next step in the marina’s future, and help show how float homes all along this coast can become a wonderfully colourful thread in the fabric of our communities. As we all know, our performance is being closely watched and it is sure nice to show off a little. It has not been an easy journey, but I think we all agree it was sure worth doing. We thank our float home residents for their outstanding patience and their commitment to the future.
Next on deck (dock?) is the installation of the sewer lines. Yes, it is really happening. The trench is expected to cross in front of the Shipyard patio, and will continue across to the garden area. We hope to have this digging finished before the end of November. We are preparing to have the parking lot repaired this spring.
Yes, it’s been a mess, but soon it will be over, and we will have made more than “baby steps”. Dare we say we have made great strides? We have come a long way.

Helpful Reminders
o If you
need to do business with either us or another company here at the
marina please plan ahead and check holiday hours. Ensure you have
fuel and propane to last you the few days the gas dock is closed.
o Please
pay attention to your dinghies. They can quickly fill up with
rainwater.
o The
occurrence of mildew, rot, and dampness increases with excessive heat.
o Condé
Nast Traveler magazine readers have ranked Vancouver Island as Top
North American Island ahead of Nantucket, MA for the seventh
consecutive year in a row. WOW and we get to live here?

Every day with rain is a day without snow!
“Being
Green…Really Isn’t That Hard”
We are happy to tell
you we have made a contribution to Georgia Strait Alliance. All
year we have been putting the money we receive from bottle returns into
a special fund. A large portion of this fund has been given to
the GSA to support their mandate, which is “To protect and restore the
marine environment and promote the sustainability of Georgia Strait,
its adjoining waters and communities”. Please give GSA and the
environment your support by being a “Green Boater”.
Thank you.
